Nice! Take care of the carbon. 💅

Oooh! I just spent an hour today looking at this bike. Seems very nice.

How do you like the bars? The drops seem very tight, no?

Is it as comfy as it looks overall?

Congratulations!

The drops are just slightly flared. So far it's been fine. I haven't done any really technical descents yet, though.

Beautiful bike, only thing that ruins it for me are those tan sidewalls but that is personal preference and the dork disc on the rear wheel.

A set of Panaracer gravel kings would make it chefs kiss

I'm not a fan of the tan sidewalls but I'm going to use them as long as they last. The dork disc really sucks, that's definitely coming off soon.

I did the same with my (now not so new) bike. I got the tan sidewalls with it and I wasn't going to waste perfectly good tyres. They grew on me slightly but I recently needed to replace them and went for all black and I am in love with the new look it has given the bike!

Exceptional bike either way!

Good thing they put it in the correct gear for the photo, otherwise you'd be complaining about the chain not being parallel.

Oh so I can't express an opinion about what are my personally preferences on what is an otherwise beautiful bike? Things that OP apparently agrees with based on their response.

It is called having a conversation which is generally the basis of interacting with people here.

Sure you can, just like I can leave a comment that insinuates how much of a dick I think you are as a result of said comment.

You didn't really "express an opinion" as much as you said their bike is "ruined" because of a minor detail that they had no choice in.

I'm sure you're a reasonable person, I just read the comment and was disappointed in it. Maybe it could have been worded better. We've all been there.

[–] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

No I said "what ruins it for me" and stated that it was my "personal preference" both of which insinuated heavily that I was expressing my personal opinion.

I also said it was a beautiful bike, which it is, but you seem to have glossed over that part. I don't think in any part of my comment was I being a dick in any way, I complimented the bike and then gave my personal opinion on the couple of bits that I didn't like.

I don't think it was worded in a negative way at all it seems more like you wanted to be a "dick" because you didn't agree with my opinion of the bike. I'm sure you probably hate my bright pink bike that I have posted and that is your right to have an opinion but I don't really see what your comment added to the conversation at all other than snark.

I could mirror exactly your last paragraph there as I'm sure you are reasonable and our shared love of bikes should spark positive conversation rather than confrontation over differing of opinions.

For example I then went on to see your post of your bike and wanted to compliment it as a nice bike but because I saw it was you I was put off replying and in these smaller communities on Lemmy I think we should embrace each others opinion on things and celebrate our shared love of the overall topic so more people feel comfortable to post and help the communities grow.

So have a good day man and I like your bike a lot.

"Ruined" is such a strong word, so as the reader it just struck a wrong chord with me. Maybe your point could have been communicated differently.

"Great bike, I bet it would look even better with black tires". Something like that wouldn't have triggered me, haha.

I haven't seen your bright pink bike, but that sounds awesome.

[–] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 months ago

To me I guess it isn't such a strong word but I will take what you said on board, everyone views and uses language differently so it is good to have other points of view. Just know that it wasn't intended in a negative way.

I'll post my bike in this community as well seen as the community I posted in before seems to be dead and I'd like to see at least one bike community on Lemmy have more content / traffic I can interact in :)
