Lab grown meat already exists. The same processes could easily make human meat without harming the human.

I'm fairly certain this will at some point lead to a social media fad of people trying, well, people. It seems like every possible stupid action has already been turned into one at this point https://eu.app.com/story/news/world/2024/03/07/what-is-tiktok-chroming-trend/72879475007/

Onlyfans creators already sell stuff like toenail clippings and bathwater https://kotaku.com/belle-delphine-onlyfans-paypal-pornhub-bath-water-1851491916

Wouldn't be difficult to imagine people buying meat made of their favourite creator. What they do with it is between them and their god.

"Do you really want to eat Bella Thorne's ass? Well, for just $19.99 you can fry up a small part of it!"

What stuff was you on when you came up with this revelation?

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 44 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'd just had a cousin burger

but most importantly, did you inject or snore

Edit: snort, fuck autocorrect

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Asleep all night, snoring drugs.

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 7 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Inject drugs by day, snore by night. All day.

So you kind of miss the obvious long term application in this scenario: buy a totally realistic dildo clone of my penis, buy a clone of my boobs etc. A step beyond just meat but the more realistic application of this technology in the sex world.

I think they'll be eating their favourite onlyfans creators, just not in the way you're suggesting.

[–] DarkMetatron@feddit.org 20 points 4 months ago (2 children)

And how do you keep that from deteriorating and decaying? It would be meat after all and meat has the nasty property to get really bad in very short time without a living body attached to it keeping it fresh.

Well planned obsolescence is a good thing for the content maker - the customer has to buy it again if they like it. The ultimate DRM?

[–] DarkMetatron@feddit.org 6 points 4 months ago

Okay, if you phrase it that way then it is a feature not a bug 🤔😄

Wait, would my dildo clone have a foreskin? Would the fake be more real than the real thing?

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Yea, I hit on that same thought later in another comment.

I feel like that will become illegal pretty quickly.

There was that artist back in the early 2000s who made caviar from her own eggs.

[–] YoFrodo@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

This kind of concept is in Brandon Cronenbergs' film Antiviral

[–] bastion@feddit.nl 14 points 3 months ago

It's the only true vegan meat - given with consent.

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 14 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Pretty sure it would be considered cannibalism and made illegal

[–] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Prion City here we GOOOOOOOOO!

[–] DarkMetatron@feddit.org 12 points 4 months ago

Where are the infectious prions coming from if it is lab grown meat? There should be the same risks with any other lab grown meat then, because prions are not something special to only human meat.

[–] Ookami38@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Long as we don't lab grow brains for food we should be good on that front.

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 8 points 4 months ago

Not necessarily, most of the known prions we associate with cannibalism are neurological, but that doesn't mean there aren't any that primarily affect other parts of the body that require proteins that aren't infectiously badly folded.

[–] BuckenBerry@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

I'm pretty sure cannibalism is already legal in the United States. The problem is you can't legally acquire human meat.

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 9 points 4 months ago

I don't think cannibalism is illegal in many places, the problem with it is acquiring the meat.

People into vore are about to feast!

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 4 points 4 months ago

Literally! And literally!

There will no doubt be a line of the wealthiest people selling their sole for a profit.

I don't think this is what was implied when we said to "eat the rich", though. Or "bootlicker" and "ass kisser".

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

...selling their sole for a profit.

Ah, I see what you did there 🦶

[–] ronflex@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The problem is though is who tf would wanna do that (eat it)

[–] isolatedscotch@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

the same people who bought the bath water, I guess

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The problem is that the lab-meat probably wouldn’t taste the same as the human-meat. I’m reasonably confident that the (minimum) 18 years of living the OF person would have to do impacts and changes the quality and taste of flesh.

It’s possible that the lab-meat would taste like the OF person did when they were a baby… but that opens a whole new door of moral and ethical and legal issues.

Armin Meiwes went vegetarian I just checked.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

He was always very oddly into ethical consumption.

Very

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 4 points 4 months ago (3 children)

I keep mixing up Armin Meiwes and Armin Meiwald. Really unfortunate coincidence that their names are so similar yet what they're known for is so different.

I'd eat a Bell Delphine burger. I wouldn't spend my own money on it, but I feel like that'd make for a fun story.

Zuckerberg will do a video of him smoking some thot's ass meat. With Sweet Baby Ray's, of course.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

I hate to say it, but you’re probably right. 🤢

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago

Why bother just make a brainless clone and put an ai in it. Its not human so it has no rights?

[–] BeBa@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Unfortunately I think Bella Thorne has stopped doing only fans :,(

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I have no idea who she is, I just Googled popular Onlyfans creators because I didn't want to reference the only one I knew again which was Belle Delphine.

[–] CaptSatelliteJack@lemy.lol 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I commend your commitment to keeping the bit fresh
