Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Sunday's deadly Israeli airstrike on a Rafah camp had gone tragically wrong.

"Despite our best effort, not to harm those not involved, unfortunately a tragic mistake happened last night. We are investigating the case," Netanyahu said about the strike in a speech at the Israeli Knesset on Monday.

At least 45 people were killed and 200 wounded after the Israeli strike hit a camp for displaced people, according to the government media office in Gaza.

The Israeli military’s General Staff's Fact-Finding and Assessment Mechanism is investigating an airstrike carried out in Rafah on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Monday.

Yeah, happens to me all the time as well. People specifically ask me not to commit acts of genocide in a specific population, and I just accidentally bomb them anyway a few hours later.

It's truly tragic, but there's really nothing I can do about it, and I honestly wish people would stop bitching about it.

Hey, don't beat yourself up about it. Who hasn't accidentally bombed a camp of displaced peoples? The important thing is to apologize and try not to ~~get caught~~ bomb the next one.

Don't forget to do some self reflection so you can come to the conclusion that it wasn't your fault

[–] Gloomy@mander.xyz 4 points 5 months ago

And make sure you investigate yourself thoroughly.

Translation: "We're sorry you found out we did that"

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 19 points 5 months ago

Not even that.

More like "You can't stop us as long as we go through the motions."

Same mistake as the USS Liberty.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 29 points 5 months ago

Do it first, then apologize. Seems to have worked out for them in the past, as you say.

"Oopsies doopsies, we made a wittle mistake uwu" - Bibi.

Can't wait for him to commit a Slobodan Praljak.

Israel claimed that they killed 2 ‘senior Hamas officials’ in this strike. We know that Israel considers it acceptable to kill up to 300 civilians for each senior hamas target. Make no mistake. This wasn’t an accident. Israel just doesn’t care about the welfare of the Palestinians. They are genocidal and must be stopped.

"Despite our best effort," said the genocider.

[–] Hegar@kbin.social 26 points 5 months ago

35000+ tragic mistakes and counting.

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 23 points 5 months ago

I have a feeling that "tragic mistakes" will keep happening until all the Palestinians are gone from the territories Israel wants to annex.

What a lying sack of shit. I bet he had absolutely no remorse.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 15 points 5 months ago

Nor does he currently

According to Al Jazeera the shelling of Rafah is ongoing. Admittedly not always the best source, but it is a source.

[–] QuantumSpecter@lemmy.world 14 points 5 months ago

They should have his war crimes trial at Nurnberg, it might snap some people back to reality.

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

It's never a war crime the first time - Fat electrician

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

A little late for that.
