Isn't 30 the standard on console anyway? Doesn't seem too bad if they're getting close. Either way, every time the game is delayed it gives me renewed hope that the developer at least cares about getting it right. And hey, if they fuck it up, the modders will have Anomaly 2 or something similar coming down the pipeline within a year or two.
The standard for properly optimized games is 60 FPS and if a game can't reach this framerate then it's not properly optimized.
Ah, I thought consoles were still rolling with 30. Haven't owned one in years.
Nothing has changed sadly.
30 was the standard up to PS3 and X360 at 720p. With the complete rework of the hardware design for PS4 and XOne, both consoles targeted 60 at 720p and encouraged developers to reach this. If the resolution is upped to 1080p, games will more often than not target 30. There are exceptions to this such as Gran Turismo. To this day, in the era of PS5 and X Series, a majority of games still target 30 because it's easier to do so and they can crank up the graphical quality.
I can't remember the last time I played a sub 60 fps game on my series X. Elden Ring dips occasionally, but it's still solid for the most part.
Even on the Xbox one all the games I was playing were running at 60+. The last game I played with an actually bad framerate was tears of the kingdom, but that is on switch.
