Just a general comment, I am clueless about Aus politics.

“Libs” has always confused me, as it’s a wildly nebulous term.

Is it libs like the UK liberal democrats, or is it more like whatever america thinks “libs” are?

So it's a little bit complicated but our Liberals (Libs) are pretty close to the Tories/conservatives in the UK.
