Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, also known as ANSWER Coalition, told Newsweek that organizers are planning to demonstrate at the event where Harris will likely be named the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election.

They argue that the vice president's role in the Biden administration ties her to "horrific war crimes" in the Middle East.

"We plan on mobilizing to join protests during the DNC to demand an end to the genocide in Gaza," Walter Smolarek, the media coordinator for ANSWER Coalition, said. "We are joining with the coalition that has already been formed in Chicago to demonstrate. We believe it is just as important to protest now that Kamala Harris has replaced Joe Biden as the Democrats' nominee."

I feel like the people pushing this whole narrative vis a vis Harris are intentionally missing the context and the nuance of the situation.

  • Harris has publicly disagreed with Biden’s carte blanche policy
  • Simultaneously, Harris CANNOT afford to piss off AIPAC to the degree that they start throwing all of their cash towards Trump
  • Harris has precisely zero power to change US policy towards Israel and Gaza at the moment.

So now, tell me: what is Harris doing that’s a “war crime” here?

Because from where I’m standing, it looks like she’s walking a political tightrope domestically in order to not lose the election to the fascists (which is a pretty fucking important goal), and is quietly but noticeably distancing herself from Biden’s Zionist position as much as is politically feasible in the current campaign-funding dynamic where AIPAC holds a dismaying amount of sway (again: also in the context of “we absolutely must not let the fascists win”).

The least anyone in power can do is speak out against genocide. She has not done that. She has supported Israel and condemned protesters. Please take your genocide apologies and shove them where they belong. Thanks!

I reiterate, with emphasis:

Because from where I’m standing, it looks like she’s walking a political tightrope domestically in order to not lose the election to the fascists (which is a pretty fucking important goal), and is quietly but noticeably distancing herself from Biden’s Zionist position as much as is politically feasible in the current campaign-funding dynamic where AIPAC holds a dismaying amount of sway (again: also in the context of “we absolutely must not let the fascists win”).

What part of “the fascists gaining power in November is going to make Gaza a whole fucking lot worse” do you not understand?

And you’re welcome to shove your bad-faith agitprop bullshit up your own ass in return.

I guess you missed the part where genocide is bad, m'kay. And the minimum she could do is speak out against it. She hasn't. She's actually denounced the protestors that are speaking out against it. So take your measured BS because genocide is one of the worst things to support and that is what the Democratic party is doing. You support them, you support genocide. Justify it anyway you want.

Or, you can actively oppose it and have Kamala denounce you too. I'd rather be on the non-genocide team instead.

You call me bad faith while I call for an end to supporting genocide- look at yourself and your stance.
