The trial in Ballarat went well, so they'll be rolling it out to the rest of Vic soon. Only full licenses for the moment, but it says L and P platers will be able to get it later this year too!

One thing I noted: if you're required to always have your license on you for any of these reasons, you probably won't benefit that much from it. Not having any reception or running out of battery won't be an excuse, so you'll cop the fine regardless.

Also, having to hand your phone over to a police officer at a routine stop is probably a bad idea.

If it's like NSW, you don't have to physically give them your phone, it shows all the information and it has a QR code they can just scan to bring up stuff on their system
