Ministry of Homeland Stability Intercepts Subject During Routine Judicial Adjustment
In a decisive action reinforcing national unity, Stability Enforcers from the Department of Migration Oversight (formerly known as Immigration and Customs Enforcement) executed a scheduled detainment of an individual identified as O.J.M., a foreign national of nonconforming gender designation, during a recalibration hearing at the Judicial Processing Annex in Portland Sector.
Despite external interference from legal auxiliaries affiliated with Innovation Law Lab — a known cluster of counterproductive elements — the Department acted swiftly to reassign the individual to the Northwest Detention Harmony Center in Tacoma Sector. The transfer, standard under Cross-Sector Relocation Directive 14-B, was executed without disruption to public order.
Things are bad enough without whatever this is. Please just don't, for the sake of everyone trying to figure out how they're going to survive this.
1984ifying it. Seemed like appropriate satire to me at the time. Little sad it didn't land. Wasn't easy to make that bullshit be MORE bullshit.
In writing that whole thing, it never occured to you that maybe writing fanfic about a real queer woman being disappeared by the neo-gestapo might be a little tonally inappropriate?
I realize how it could land the wrong way, especially in such a serious context. I wasn't trying to mock or minimize what happened. I was trying to highlight how eerily Orwellian this actually is. The bureaucratic cruelty, and the erasure line up damn near one for one. It's already shockingly dystopian. I went for satire to underscore that, precisely because gestapo are disappearing people in broad daylight. I could have hit that goal better though, clearly.
