Silent Siren announced that they will be back from hiatus (with a support drummer at first) at the end of the year. This led me to listen to their entire discography for the last few days. I can't wait for a new single or album.

Recently I commented here that I might finally be getting into idol stuff in my old years, and it seems to be really happening via the gateway of idol anime...
This song is from the second season of Zombieland Saga and I chose it because it's actually pretty great as a rock song (though not "death metal" as billed in that video).

The anime seiyuu actually formed an idol unit and did several big concerts with all the songs from the show. And most of the songs are really pretty great.

Another song to get hyped for the weekend! It also has some rap sections and a similar energy like the Gacharic Spin song I posted IMO.

Gacharic Spin - another band I've heard a lot of praise for that I'm just now getting into. They are definitely very talented and bring some crazy energy! So definitely the right stuff to get you fired up for the weekend!

The MV for the new single Kimi ni sayonara was just released.

I like this kind of melancholic/slightly sad songs and I've been listening to this song on repeat for the past hour. It's really good :)

idk man, cause its a banger cover from a pretty good show lmao

Name: Dream Island Obsessional Park its the opening to the titular Paranoia Agent a very surreal opening and anime, recommend (without the last two episodes lmao) https://www.animelyrics.com/anime/paranoiaagent/yumenoshimash.htm

The MV of the latest single from my favorite band just dropped.

Once again I'm thinking about how far they have come since the start. Their musical style has changed quite a bit over the years which may not be everybody's cup of tea but I really like them (the songs and the band 😛) and the new song is no exception.

This is the new group the members of miscast became recently. Their style is a mixture of metal and pop, singing and screaming. I was a huge fan of miscast, so definitely check out their old videos if you can: https://youtube.com/@miscastOfficialChannel

My favorite group of all time! Part of the BABYMETAL Japanese metal pop explosion in the early 2010s, they carved out their own niche known as "Japanese Death Pop". They dissolved a while back, but I still listen to them everyday!

Two members (Emi and Karin) have joined other idol groups, and Yuzu has been modelling for magazines. Bucho went back to office work, a subject that pops up in some of the song lyrics.

"CENT" is CENT CHiHiRO CHiTTiii's solo project. She started it before the end of BiSH.

This is one of the more rock-like songs from her.

An original song by 96neko, the opening for the anime Kuzu no honkai (Scum's Wish). Really dynamic, slightly melancholic, right up my alley. 😄 (Also obligatory Watch Scum's Wish, you cowards!)

I think I also once saw a video of 96neko doing a live performance of the song together with other cast from the anime somewhere during some event, but can't find it anymore.

"cluppo" is the name of the solo side project of Miku Kobato, founder of BAND-MAID. I really like this fun and poppy song, partly because it's such a stark contrast to BAND-MAID's usual hard rock style.

Edit: I can't keep Lemmy from HTML-escaping the "&" character in the title :(

for anyone who doesnt know akira is one of, if not the most famous movie of the 80s anime scene that is still talked about today stellar handdrawn animation, a weird cosmic horror style and an interesting story and insane ost

if you like the movie the manga it helms from is pretty good as well

A great idol group I've been talking with and following over the past few years. They introduced me to the two-step dance that's popular in the underground idol scene. Aggressive, yet cute, they are constantly doing live shows every week!

One of the songs I'm currently listening to. The song and the music video feel more like a something from a musical. I quite like it. It makes me wish to be able to understand Japanese.

DeepL translates the video description as follows:

Tomoyasu Hotei's long-awaited latest work "GUITARHYTHM Ⅶ". In the 35 years since his solo debut "GUITARHYTHM" after the breakup of BOØWY, this is the seventh installment in the popular series that has impacted the scene by opening up an overwhelming world view.

Set in the year 2023, the first year of AI, the sound concept of this album is "Retro Future," reminiscent of 90s modern music, with a message of hope and warning for the future, and Hotei's guitar sings sharply and elongated throughout the entire album. The album has been highly acclaimed by many artists who should be called "guitarism children," and has been called the best work in the history of guitarism.

The music video for "Andromeda (feat. Aina the End)," which was released earlier in the year, has been a huge hit with fans on both sides. The film, directed by the brilliant Atsunori Higashiichi, depicts the sad and strange story of a scientist (played by Hotei) and an android (played by Aina the End) who entrust their dreams for the future to an android in a spectacular science fiction rock opera. Aina the End's stunning performance and presence, along with Hotei's silhouette, are stylishly and densely presented in this music video, which is sure to be talked about as a masterpiece that will remain in the history of music videos.

GUITARHYTHM Ⅶ" is an ambitious work that should be enjoyed by people of all ages, and can be called the culmination of Hotei's constant challenge to new styles as a guitarist.

100-YOKAI is a Yokai-themed idol group formed in early 2020. The members are each possessed by a different yokai spirit!

There hasn't been a ZUTOMAYO post in this community yet, and I'm here to correct that today. Of course there are many great songs to post, ACAne is just an insanely talented musician. But this one is my favorite recently, I like how it is both melancholic and funky at the same time.

A number song to go with my other post about a number band.

THE NUMBERS MASON, WHAT DO THEY MEAN? No idea to be honest.

This is a more melancholic song by one of my favorite girl rock bands, nicely contrasting IMO the singers "cute" voice.

I had posted this song in a comment underneath a post for another song by this band, but decided that it deserves a post of its own. This band just deserves more exposure. I really like the singer's melancholic vocals here.
